Capturing Poetry in Portraits
We've had the honor and pleasure of working with this powerhouse of an artist for years. Kas, an experienced and dynamic poet and performer in Central Texas, blessed our camera lens with a powerful and artful photoshoot. We knew she would do great, but the result was beyond what anyone was expecting.
Kas's Debut in Fine Art Photography
We first met Kas at various poetry slam events, where we captured her electrifying performances filled with vibrant energy, sharp intellect, and compelling stage presence. Her unique deliverance and play on words make her an artist whose presence is felt long after the applause fades.
For this project, we asked Kas to meet us at one of our favorite shooting locations in Belton, TX, which offered diverse locations and atmosphere vibes. It also has our favorite sunset location, which is always fun.
Dancing with Shadows Inside The Woods
Our first location was a lush, shadowed forest with a dramatic backdrop. The interplay of light filtering through the canopy created a mysterious and evocative atmosphere.
Our Neewer fill flash played a pivotal role here, allowing subject shadows to fill in, creating excellent separation from the background. We even got lucky and had some natural light beams in an open area, creating a fun opportunity.

Golden Hour In The Water
As the sun got into position, we transitioned to our sunset location. We love where the sun ends up during late summer here. Using the setting sun and reflection from the water as a powerful rim light, our fill flash did the rest, or should I say, Kas did the rest.
This part of the shoot was particularly interesting, as Kas transformed her energy into a powerful yet elegant being. Her confidence was apparent, and it was truly a beautiful experience for everyone involved.
